The Interview: Jake Adelstein from the BBC World Service (Duration 28 minutes)

For twelve years, Jake Adelstein worked as a crime reporter on Japan’s biggest-selling newspaper. His patch was Tokyo’s seedy red light district, and amongst other stories, he investigated the big bosses of Japan’s crime gangs, the Yakuza. This got him into trouble, he received death threats and he and his family fled Japan and now live in exile in the United States.

British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) rating decisions

THE WILDEST DREAM is a documentary about mountaineering, contrasting George Mallory’s attempt at reaching the summit of Everest in 1924 with a modern expedition following in his footsteps. It was classified ‘PG’ for images of a frozen body…

… THE WILDEST DREAM also contains somevery mild bad language, such as ‘ass’.

The Container Lorry (Tackmanteln)

9/13, series 1

It’s an odd title to start with, even odder when you consider that Mick Hucknall and his band aren’t ‘taking to the stage for the very last time’ as the press notes for the programme suggest. Simply Red is currently in the throes of a lengthy world tour that ends in December. Still, this may be a last chance to catch them on television, performing hits from the back catalogue of smart-casual pop that helped shift a staggering 50 million albums around the world. Hucknall has always been a polarising figure, but if anyone can get the best from the prickly singer, it should be host Christine Bleakley.
